**Monday**

On Monday, I revised the outline for my newsletter reader magnet, reducing it from 11 chapters and an epilogue to 8 chapters and an epilogue. When I first plotted it at 11 chapters I think I was being overly ambitious. The truth is that the reader magnet serves the dual purpose of getting people to subscribe to my email list and to introduce new readers to my Old Blood Saga series. I needed it to be short, punchy, and give prospective readers a taste. The upside is that I've already written 4 chapters, so I only have 4 chapters to go now, plus a one or two page epilogue. I'm hoping to finish this up by the end of the weekend.

I've also set-up this new Week Notes section on my Indie Author Notes website so that I can share the granular bits of the life of an indie author.

When I woke up this morning, I checked and saw that yesterday I'd done \~£67.57 in sales on Amazon. This consisted of: 10 ebook and 2 paperback book sales, and KDP earnings from 9,901 pages read. I've also sold 3 audio books on ACX this month (only The Weaver is out in audio book form so far--the audio book for Old Blood is currently being reviewed).

I have 2 scheduled writing sessions per day. In this morning's session I wrote 810 words. I used the afternoon session to update my social media posts for the next 7-10 days. I'd previously built an agentic AI tool using Make, Airtable, Claude, Buffer, and Midjourney to manage my social media posting process. Yesterday I was able to generate 43 posts using Claude generated content (which uses my Airtable based content bible - a synopsis of all of my books - and a review table, containing my book reviews from Amazon and Goodreads.)

I created a new TikTok video which only reached the mid-200 views before stalling. I find either my videos stall at around 250 views or the reach into the 75o's. There doesn't seem to be much in-between.

**Tuesday**

This morning I woke and checked my Monday sales. I earned \~£84.85\. I sold 15 ebooks and had 11,101 KDP page reads. I've also now sold 4 audio books on ACX. I've also had book sales on Spotify (listens) though their data isn't as up to date as ACX data.

This morning I used my morning writing slot to restructure the timings of my last book, The Conclave, updating both my calendar spreadsheet that I use for my books, and Scrivener, which I use to write my first drafts. I'm hoping to make up the time later today. I still have my second writing slot, lunch, and time after my afternoon product slot in my calendar to make up today and yesterday's missing word counts.

As the day evolves, I stepped back, took a bit of a breather and reviewed the outline for The Conclave. As I've been writing it I've been a little concerned about its proposed length of \~95,000 words. In reading through my detailed plot outline for all 38 chapters, I realized that there was either duplication, or scenes that would better sit together in a single chapter. Tomorrow I have the task of seeing if I can condense 38 chapters into 32 or so. We'll see. I didn't get any writing done as I slipped down a rabbit hole reviewing the chapter outline.

I created a new TikTok video which only reached into the low 2oo views. It's really hit and miss with these. Tomorrow I'm in London so I'll do a London atmospheric one and see how it goes.

**Wednesday**

This morning I woke and checked my Tuesday sales. I earned \~£58.41, lower than the prior couple of days. I sold 7 ebooks and 2 paperbacks, and had 9,664 KDP page reads. I'm still at 4 audio books on ACX and various amounts of page reads on Spotify and INaudio.

I also received the audio files for my second book Old Blood overnight. My voice narrator finished them before leaving to perform at Edinburgh fringe (thanks Callum!). My producer managed to get all the files ready for me to review this week. With any luck (and a whole lot of listening/reviewing time), my second audio book will go live in the next few weeks.

**Thursday**

Checked Wednesday's sales, and saw that I landed on £59.63 yesterday. That represents 8 ebook and 2 paperback book sales, and 9,249 KDP page reads. In a couple of days my ads analysis agent runs and I'll find out if I should keep, increase, decrease, or kill my ads. I also intend to create 2 new ads on Friday to start testing, so I'll have more ads in the queue.

Today I'm doing revisions to the structure of the sixth book of my Old Blood Saga series. Once that's done, I'll hop back in and start writing (hopefully by tonight or early tomorrow morning).

Tangentially, this morning I finished writing a LinkedIn article, which supports my consulting business, but I count as writing. If you're into Digital Product and Design, you might be interested in reading it.

**Friday**

Checking Thursday's sale, I managed to earn £63.23 for the day. That was comprised of 11 book sales, 9 ebooks, 2 paperbacks books, and 7,961 KDP page reads. A lower KDP day, but a slightly bigger book sales day.

Also, in going through the weeks emails, I found that I've been invited by Amazon to enroll my first novel, The Weaver, in the Amazon Prime Reading program for 90 days. This entails leaving The Weaver in KDP, where it will continue to earn income from KDP page reads, ebook and paperback sales. However apart from a one-time bonus payment from Amazon, The Weaver will earn no additional revenue in the Amazon Prime Reading programs

I've decided that I will enroll, and in fact did so this morning, because it's worth trialing to see what the exposure for the series will be, and Amazon promotes your book automatically to millions of readers. And while I won't earn any revenue from the program itself, ancillary sales of the book from readers who decide to purchase it, as well as read-through to the rest of the series (4 more books - and soon a 5th), may result in a real bump in revenue over the next 3 months.

It's only for 90 days, so if I see nothing from it, it likely won't cost me very much. However, doing it represents an opportunity to test how this kind of activity will work, and in any Indie publishing business, testing sits at the heart of what we do to learn how best to market and sell our books.
