# Week Note: 31/8/26 to 4/9/26

**Monday**

Some notable things to point out between Friday and Sunday:

- Friday: Revenue - £56.70\. 5 ebook & 2 paperback sales. 11,142 KU page reads.
- Saturday: Revenue - £71.33\. 9 ebook & 4 paperback sales. 8,885 KU page reads.
- Sunday: Revenue - £57.46\. 2 ebook & 2 paperback sales. 13,510 KU page reads.

Sales picked up Friday to Saturday and most significantly, KU page reads. This seems to correlate to increasing the ad spend in the US on the new ad. There is more KU page read activity in the US than the UK. The data seems to bear this out. If this continues, I will scale the US ad again in the next day or two. The UK version of the ad seems to be flat, so it's not resonating as well with the UK audience as it is in the US. This happens, which is why you really need to be across your ad spend data.

Over those 3 days I also managed to get up to Chapter 10 of The Conclave in terms of revisions and edits. Today I'm planning on hitting the revisions quiet heavily. I want to get back to writing new material in the book (though some of the restructure has consolidated some early chapters, and created 2 new ones which I have yet to write). This week I need to get everything edited, revised, and new gap chapters written so that I am back up to Chapter 16 (which is where I'd left off before stopping to restructure the outline.)

I also wrote and posted a new Indie Author Notes article over the weekend, called [Nobody writes for the middle](https://www.indieauthornotes.com/nobody-writes-for-the-middle/), which is about that gap that exists between becoming a first-time author and becoming a 6/7-figure author.

**Tuesday**

Yesterday I finished on £63.42 with 3 ebooks and 8 paperbacks sold, and 11,283 KU page reads. On the whole, the numbers have been up the last few days.

This morning I ran my full August Facebook ads analysis. I have 4 ads running currently, 2 older and 2 newer ads in each location. The older US ad is holding steady, so no increase in spend, while the new US ad is out-performing, so increased spend another 20% this morning. I'll continue to monitor it.

Interestingly, in the UK, it turns out I set the audience differently on the new ad (which is identical to the new ad in the US), and this ad isn't performing well. My Claude analysis tool suggested since the ad is in its infancy, and based on it's US counterpart performance, consider changing the audience to the same as the US. Normally I wouldn't touch an ad's parameters when it is running, but as this ad is not performing well, I thought it worth a punt to change the audience. It's only been a couple of hours, but the ad has already come out of "Learning" and is active. I'll monitor it to see how it performs with the changes.

Claude recommended based on deeper analysis that I increase the spend on the older UK ad, so I've upped it by 20% as with the new ad in the US. If you're not aware, 20% is about the ceiling you can increase an ad without it changing from Active to Learning. If an ad goes back into Learning, it can lose all of its momentum and a successful ad can begin performing poorly. You also should only increase it every 3 days or so. There are varying schools of thought on this, but this ad has been performing well, and I want to ensure I don't kick it into Learning.

Today I need to review my social media queue and approve new posts for the next 10 days. Yesterday I updated both my Excel calendar and Scrivener file for The Conclave with the new outline. I'm going to read through the entire outline today, make any final tweaks, and then get back to writing.

**Wednesday**

Yesterday was another good day, with revenue at £63.64 (9 ebooks, 1 paperback, and 10,138 KU page reads. I managed to partially top up my social media queue which I will finish today for the next 10+ days. More importantly, I managed to run through my entire detailed outline for the book, make all final tweaks /edits /revisions, and the copy it into my calendar and Scrivener so that everything is both up to date and now in sync.

Today I am going to write, which I'm looking forward to. More on this later.

**Thursday**

Yesterday I wrote 1,489 words, which given it was a mix of revisions and new writing was good (I lopped off about 1,000 old words).

Revenue fell slightly yesterday to £51.08 (5 ebook sales and 10,542 KU page reads). I didn't do any TikTok videos...really I need to get better at that. In reality I should be dropping 3-4 TikTok videos per day. I need to get all of my B-roll video better cut and organized so that I'm able to create videos more efficiently than I currently do.

I also wrote a new article for here, about my choice of Ghost as a platform over Beehiiv and Substack (which Indie Author Notes used to sit on). I'll edit it later and then probably post it this evening or tomorrow.

Today I'm still revising. On Chapter 14 as we speak. I intend to get through the current revisions to the end of Chapter 15 by this evening, and then I'll be back in new writing territory, which is great. My restructure has also consolidated the chapters of the book from 38 chapters to 34 chapters, which means I have 4 less chapters to write. That's always a plus. Watch this space.

**Friday**

Yesterday was a stellar day for revenue with £97.14 in sales, comprised of 17 ebook and 1 paperback, and 10,756 KU page reads. I checked Amazon attribution and it looks like the changes I made to the audience for the new ad in the UK are working and I am seeing significantly increased engagement and page reads. The new ad in the US is going massively strong. I may increase ad spend on the US ad later today as a result.

I also managed to write 1,454 new words yesterday. I've almost caught up the revisions to the first 15 chapters. Today I should have that caught up and be working on new material going forward. I'm at 41,670 words in the last book of the Old Blood Saga now. I'm planning to really hit it over the next 10 days to see how far I can get while my partner is away. Only wrinkle is that I am likely now to be starting a new consulting project on Monday. But I can write around it. Today I plan to post a new IAN article. I'm also planning to start posting social media posts about IAN to begin targeting potential subscribers.
